Louise Baldock was a Labour Councillor in the city of Liverpool for two terms, 2006 - 2014. This was her award-winning blog, written mainly as a councillor about issues affecting Kensington and Fairfield ward, sometimes as a politician, and sometimes simply personal commentary. Although she thought she might rekindle the blog after May 2015, she has now changed her mind and leaves this as an archive and record.

LibDems attack CCTV
I see that Nick Clegg, the leader of the Liberal Democrats is not in favour of CCTV cameras. He is against the "endless snooping" he says and wants people to vote LibDem "to take their privacy back".
I cannot see that going down well in Kensington and Fairfield. We are always being contacted by residents who want more cameras, not fewer. They know how important they have been in the fight against crime on our streets.

What does Nick Clegg have to hide?????? I for one believe the camera's are a necessity in a city were crime of a violent nature repeatedly occurs. My son was attacked by a gang of 6 chavs on his way home from town alone one night. He fought them off the best he could but sadly collapsed in the gutter and that's were I found my son. No parent should have to find their offspring like that. CCTV found him, sadly he was out of vision of the cameras when he was attacked. Nick Clegg get real...
