Louise Baldock was a Labour Councillor in the city of Liverpool for two terms, 2006 - 2014. This was her award-winning blog, written mainly as a councillor about issues affecting Kensington and Fairfield ward, sometimes as a politician, and sometimes simply personal commentary. Although she thought she might rekindle the blog after May 2015, she has now changed her mind and leaves this as an archive and record.

Not a great start to 2010 for some people
Spare a thought for my Colin, he has been off work now for four weeks with his broken ribs after a fall on the icy pavements. He has had to be checked to see if his lungs were punctured, so serious have his injuries been and he has been on such heavy painkillers that he has barely known what day it is half the time. And then his beloved Crystal Palace have gone into administration. You just gotta feel for him. We're all thinking about you love

Oh dear poor Colin, give him my love and tell him to get well soon. Sx
There is no cure for broken ribs, just rest till they mend themselves. poor man. Hope he is not in pain for too long.
Can't offer him much support or sympathy for Crystal Palace though!!!
He is still hurting, this is a really serious injury, however surprising that might be, a fall in the snow. He is still off work and still on serious pain killers. I feel so bad about it, that our council could not help him from being so damaged. :-(
He is still off by the way - and it is now March. I am hoping he will be able to go back to work next week.
