I still cannot quite believe how much the political landscape has changed since we first crossed swords, sometimes I think it must all have been a dream, but here we are. I am sure you are doing great things and it is important that you keep hold of your enthusiasm and energy, politics should be the purview of the young, or at least as much as it is of the not so young, and whatever party you support, the important thing is to get stuck in!
If you ever find a convenient moment to completely delete and remove a certain blog, wiping it off the face of the internet for good, that would be fab, but in the meantime, I hope your summer is sunny and warm and full of promise
Cheers, LouiseLouise Baldockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08430662342062143143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21780743.post-88296036518434060452012-05-13T12:25:50.549+00:002012-05-13T12:25:50.549+00:00Hi Louise,

A different world, really.

Sadly, I was only able to help out in Liverpool for the last few days of the election, as other work commitments kept me down here for the majority of time.

I did genuinely enjoy my return, although I freely admit, absolutely devastated for Paula where I spent my couple of days around Cressington being a foot solider. To lose by such a small margin, and compared to last years result achieving a 23% swing to the LDs is, well, how does one put it - character building?!

Apart from a small incident on Polling Day whilst knocking up in Cressington, I thought Labour acted with genuine magnanimity in victory, whilst I hope we conveyed grace in defeat.

Liverpool is clearly now made out of red brick, and will be for a long time.

I was pleased for Jay Roberts, who is a long standing friend, for his victory in Greenbank.

It was also quite fun being at both counts, chatting to and seeing old faces and friends - of all political colours and changed allegiances.

And for, I think, the ONLY time in my life joined in the clapping when Joe made his victory speech - if only to drown out the disgusting far-right activities! (Very pleasing to see they didn't get the media coverage they where clearly hoping for).

Wishing you well,

GerardGerard Thompsonnoreply@blogger.com
